Located just minutes from the Abel Tasman National Park, or the spectacular Kahurangi National Park mountain ranges, our lodge serves as the perfect gateway to explore the region’s natural wonders. Enjoy kayaking, hiking, sailing, helicopter picnic outings, wildlife tours, or simply take a day out with vineyard wine tasting, lunch and arts & craft boutique shopping. Seaside communities of Motueka, Mapua & Ruby Bay are all just 20 minutes drive, offering stunning beach walks, boutique stores, cafés, restaurants and a short ferry ride from Mapua to walk or bike around Rabbit island.
Further afield is Golden Bay, but only an hour drive to more secluded and wild New Zealand coastlines like Wharariki and Tata or enjoy local Takaka artisans and eateries.
Fly Fishing & Local Guides
Steeped in fly fishing history, the lodge was built for this very purpose in 1989. Enjoy single or multi-day fly fishing experiences with our local professional guides. The Lodge has a river frontage that offers easy access to the Motueka River, one of New Zealand's best for brown trout. In addition, there are numerous wonderful tributaries and high country spots close to the lodge that our guides will share. Book early to secure the best guides and also to make sure we have adequate equipment on hand for your fishing experience.
Helicopter Tours
Experience the region from above by helicopter. Custom tours include stops at Awaroa Resort for lunch, walking the coastline path, or guided kayaking. Explore Golden Bay's Te Waikoropupu Springs or visit Marlborough’s wine region.

Bike & E-Bike Tours
Explore the region’s trails by bike, tailored for your needs we will work with our partner biking companies. Customize a guided or self-guided day tour with stops at wineries, breweries, galleries, and rural villages. The property bounds the Great Taste Trail which offers easy, scenic routes perfect for all abilities, whether on muscle-bikes or e-bikes.

We work with local providers with sail boats, catamarans or powered boats to tailor your comfortable sailing adventure. Choose between a scheduled day tour or an exclusive private charter to explore the unspoilt islands, tranquil bays, marine wildlife and golden sandy beaches. Enjoy sailing, hiking the Coastal Track, or relaxing onboard. You can also engage in wildlife photography or kayaking.
